WonderMedia WM8650 - ethernet problem

Just got a WonderMedia WM8650 and want to connect to Internet, have tried DHCP and manual IP setup but no joy.
Android 2.2
Kernal 2.6.32.9-default
Build generic-eng2.2 froyo ver 1.5.5-20110920.083830

Sounds like you have no PC connected and no Router with WiFi??

OK - I am connecting my cable modem ethernet port to the "add on" ethernet port on the WM8650

Does your plug in USB and ethernet port actually get seen by the tablet? (Can you plug in a USB memory stick and the tablet recognize it?)
Try turning the tablet off completely. Connect the add on, making sure it's firmly plugged in. Turn the tablet back on. Go to settings and ethernet. Turn ethernet on Then plug in the cord from the modem. You SHOULD see the available ethernet then in the ethernet setup choose DHCP and your tablet should connect.
