Is there a need to rebuild the charger? You should be able to use any of the usb waller charger with micro usb connector?

I have no issue using my htc hd2 charger.

Meanwhile I modified slightly an "Mitsubishi Trium" charger (to output 4.7 Volts instead 5.3 V) and everything works fine ; I can use the tablet while charging .

That looks like the indicator of your WiFi signal strength. It's not something you'd want to remove even if you could.

No, I dont think it's WiFi ... Maybe is cellular signal ; the Wifi icon is different and appears when WiFi is on.
