need to be rooted -->View attachment 3678
need Root Explorer
Download a boot animation, here's a cool one --> MEGAUPLOAD - The leading online storage and file delivery service
Keep file compressed .zip, transfer to SD card.
Move file to data/local
When you place file in directory, rename to bootanimation.zip
Reboot tablet & voilà!

Here's what it will look like :)

These you must rename to bootanimation.zip

Tried to install Android [GEARS] v.2 boot animation on my A500/3.1 as you has described above . No success at all :( . Did as you said, tablet rooted and used Root explorer. Could not find the folder local under sdcard/data so I made one myself and placed the file there (bootanimation.zip). No success. Changed to system/media, nothing happened (booted the usual way). Searched for some file called bootanimation and found one under system/bin?! Ok, I moved it there and at the same time renamed the original (it was just called bootanimation without the .zip) to .old. Nothing happened when booting and finally I accidentally deleted the original file so now I just see Acer under the whole boot sequence :( . Any idea what´s wrong and how to deal with it ............. Really like to have the new animation working but at least the old one back.

Here's the original boot animation, place back into system/bin -->View attachment $bootanimation.zip
Data/Local is NOT in SD card, go back to "/" which is the primary directory in root explorer.
You will not see bootanimation.zip in this folder, just paste the custom bootanimation.zip file in the correct directory.

P.S. Don't forget to click thanks ;)

Thanks. It was that thing with permissions too and when I changed that, at last I got it working. :) So once again thanks for helping me out!
