Without a lot of work and rooting I'm fairly certain you can't do what you're asking. Maybe not even with rooting.

To do this requires decompiling framework-res.apk or SystemUI.apk, and editing the PhoneStatusBar.java file located therein. To do that requires you not only be rooted, but know how to use Java commands or a program like Virtuous Ten Studio, know how to edit java code, and know how to replace the original file with your copy without causing the table to bootloop.

Thank you both. For me, the design is inferior for routine handling, ie. resting in one's palm, means the fingers will find a way to hit that Google center... HNY!

Is this the notification bar we're talking about or the dock where the apps button is located? If you're talking about the dock, install a custom launcher from the Play Store and move the apps out of the dock so you don't trigger them. You won't be able to change the location of the dock itself but at least you'll have the other fun stuff out of the way.
