Need help viewing SDCard contents

In other Android tablets in order to view the SDCard contents from the desktop I tap the SDCard icon in the notification area and the card opens. I've done that with the LePan and have had no success. I've had to use a file manger to view the SDCard contents. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

I assume that everything looks OK when using the file manager and everything is accessible and works?

You can install a shortcut to your file manager, on your home screen.
