The NC is equipped with a micro usb in/out port and 3.5mm jack, which you can buy a micro usb or 3.5mm mic or headset.

Yup we sure will but it may take some time. Right now we are all at the very start of this device and it was only rooted for the first time ~2 weeks ago. In a month or two there will be a very simple one button root method for those, who are not very technically savvy. This is the way it is for every phone (now popular tab) that come along. Some may need to sit tight or buy the NC at a later date. Unfortunately this is not the newest smartphone on the market and may not just the total interest of the many dev guys/teams.

B&N says they'll have a developer mode at the end of January that will allow developers to test their code on real devices, not just emulators.

Do you know anything about this? Does user created code have full access to the hardware?

If so, maybe this might be an easier way to root a Nook. Anyone can become a developer. The SDK can be downloaded at no charge.

The 2.1 SDK was released to devs last week and I"m sure when the NC 2.2 one come out it will be released as well. B&N seems to be embracing the spirit of android.

The current SDK doesn't allow developers to test their code on real Nooks. Supposedly the update in January will let them do this.

^Should be an interesting and fun next couple of months for NC owners. Thanks for the info. :)

Update to OP:
Re-rooting your NC from auto update of 1.0.1.

Tip: You can also slide your finger from right to left across the notification bar at the bottom to function as a back button This works for stock and rooted NOOKcolors.
