S7 Charger Alternatives

That would be a negative.

This is used to charge the S7 when the battery
get low, or to use as en external power supply.

The only way I could think of to do a bigger internal battery
would require making a new back that would allow for a bigger
battery.

This is what I am going to use when geocaching, fishing, etc.

If the battery in the S7 is getting too low, I can plug this in and
recharge the battery in the S7 while I am still using it.

Total output is 5V @ 2200mA
Battery Storage Capacity is 9000mah

Quick note. Nokia charger tips work. I modded one with a stereo cable end so now I can switch what kind of charging item I'm using (I have a backpack with a solar panel on it that I use to charge it when I'm out and about...though the downside is the solar charger only works when the unit is powered off).

Does anyone remember where that one-piece USB charging cable from eBay was? I think it was somewhere in this thread. I keep thinking my home-made one will fall apart from the two skinny exposed wires, and a commercial one would be good as a backup.

thx

Do you have the direct address, or do we have to go through their support website?

Update to the Deal Extreme Battery Pack(Posts 98/99)

The 9000mAh battery pack has been working flawlessly.
It will recharge the S7 3-4 times even while using the S7.
It will recharge completely overnight when connected to a USB port.
My modified cable is working fine and staying cool.

I am definitely happy with this purchase!

The powerline universal ac adapter works great set at 6v cost $20.00 at walmart

I found this at Thinkgeek.com

ThinkGeek :: U-Socket USB Wallplug

Yes it is a wall outlet with USB outlets. Per the website, the USB is rated at 5VDC at 2.1 Amps.
With an acceptable cord, this could provide a charger in any room you put one of these.
And It will charge any USB charged device!

Not currently in stock, But I plan to buy a couple when they get back in stock!!

Or just buy/find these parts plus a bit soldering

1. DC - DC Stepdown Converter from ebay like this:
LM2596 DC-DC Step Down CC-CV Adjustable Power Supply Module Output DC 1.5V-35V | eBay

Price ( ~2$). This module will output constant output voltage
Adjust the screw to set the output to 5,xx volt to compensate voltage drop

2. Multi plug cable from universal charger ( 1$ from local electronic store)
3. Cables (1$)
4. 12 Volt or any DC adapter. (Car battery if using inside car or CPU Power supply)
5. Small DC Fan (optional). The module will get warm when the output current is > 1 Ampere

I have a couple of these at my car and office. I leave the original charger at home.

With a bit of effort, you could also buy USB plug + USB port to connect the multi plug to the adapter or to the USB port directly( not tested yet

Hey, i have bought some parts that i'm going to make into a charger for the S7, but i'm not sure with the barrel connector which is the positive and which is the negative. Is it the inside or the outside that is positive?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks.
