Hi I bought this tablet about a week ago
http://cgi.NO EBAY LINKS ALLOWED, PLEASE READ THE RULES/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=140883079682
Now it is an AGPTEK 7" android tablet. im at version 1.2.0 and I see there are a lot of firmwares files for this tablet, but I cannot seem to find any firmwares I can update with for my model number. Wondermedia's website support link doesn't even work. The model is

wmt.model.no= MID7_8233_FT5306_bsr025v0

My tablet isn't rooted either. I want to update this tablet to the LATEST firmware, and then root it. If someone could point me in the right direction that would be great, because I can't seem to figure out what exactly I need to be searching for.

edit : also i would like a link to "Fmaker". I cannot find it anywhere, only references to it on android forums, and a page that has it translated.
http://electronmania.blogspot.tw/2012/10/translate-via-8850-fmaker-program.html

edit2 : I have been having wifi issues since I got this tablet. it seemed as though everytime I would try to access the internet it would drop the wifi connection. there would still be a tiny space for where the icon should be on the taskbar, but the icon disappears. sometimes after about 5-10 seconds it will reconnect, but then repeat the process. I figured I was going to run into a lot of software problems by buying a third party android tablet, and I wasn't wrong. After an entire day of messing with it I realized it would only drop the wifi when I accessed the play store. everything else worked flawlessly. So I tried clearing the data and cache from play store, didn't do anything. So here is the fix for the wifi connectivity issues on this tablet. UNINSTALL GOOGLE PLAY STORE UPDATES! After doing that everything has ran smoothly. I don't have the latest play store, but thats better than not having internet. I had the 3.10.9 (which i assume came with it) but now I don't know what I have. I downloaded the 3.10.9 apk and will try installing it later to see if its just a bad factory install.

I found this link in techknow forums for the 1.5.0 firmware but I don't think any of them will work for this.

Well I rooted the device with Rootburner, I had done it before, I just didn't know the su command was nessacery. so i tried backing up the original firmware, i used fwdump and CobyADB, both gave 0kb on the 3 boot files and the system files are different sizes, 172 and 128mb.

So I tried installing ubuntu on my device last night. I got to the command bootubuntu and it errored out, so im assuming my device doesnt support the loop thing or w/e. so now heres a major problem. after that I rebooted my tablet and now I just get a black screen after the first android logo (before the icecreamsandwhich one, i dont see that one). I did a recovery (holding vol up and down and power until message) several times, and tried booting with sd with WMC-1592 plus some other firmwares, but nothing will boot.

What can I do to save this device? I've had it for a couple of days and now its already bricked, and that effing ubuntu tutorial said it wouldn't mess with my android os, which it did.

ok for anyone that comes across this thread looking for answers

i download a file called V775(8850)-Update (200mb), i forgot where, but it had Fmaker.exe and the correct firmware for this device in it.

So i just successfully recovered my device by copying those files to the sd and booting. i didn't have to change anything in the config or customize, everything has been working as good as stock (screen kinda dont fit right, and i cant charge with usb port, and modded ac adapater to usb on iphone charger causes random touchscreen inputs?). so with all this knowledge, how can i actually update the android version? i have the .fwc for the model, and im running android 4.0.3 and build 1.2.0, and i want the latest because there are so many things missing in this custom version.

so apparently these files are hosted on the agptek website, i cant find them by navigating, i found a reference to it on google search, heres the link for the download

http://www.agptek.com/download/V775(8850)-Update.rar

extract, copy to sd, boot tablet, and wulah, its back to stock fw.

a little update..
i managed to get my tablet WM8850-MID(MID7_8233_FT5306_bsr025v0) to update to 1.5.0 by downloading "W70-1.5.1680-WIN8-1108.zip", then going into the config folder and removing the + in front of the top file and putting a + in front of MID7_8233_FT5306_bsr025v0.fwc. Then just copy the FirmwareInstall folder and wmt_scriptcmd to the root of your sd card, put sd in tablet, boot, and it should automatically start updating.

i believe this is where i found the fw

well i just recently flash my device with a different firmware, trying to resolve some software issues, mainly the wifi constantly dropping. I flashed my tablet with "MaPan_MX7650B_Firmware_F20121120" and i replaced the .fwc in the config folder with "+MID7_8233_FT5306_bsr025v0". Then i just updated with that. It updates your android build to 1.5.0, but brands it to Mapan (only difference is it will say mapan instead of agptek on bootup). This firmware also came with the Windows 8 theme, which is actually kinda nice, but id still prefer stock desktop. This firmware fixed my wifi issue, havent had a problem since. The last firmware I used to flash to 1.5.0 still had the wifi issues, so this should fix that.

For future reference, I'm coming to the conclusion that you can pretty much flash your tablet with any firmware as long as you have your .fwc (+MID7_8233_FT5306_bsr025v0.fwc). just put it in your config folder and make sure no other file has a "+" at the beginning of it (you can delete all the other .fwc's)

I went ahead and attached the .fwc to this post so you dont have to search for it, just find the firmware you want. Here is a link to the firmware I used

I have a wm8850-mid tablet with camera in the top center location. I installed "MAPAN_MX7650B_Firmware_20121021.rar" from your link http://index.****************/download/software/MAPAN_MX7650B_Firmware_20121021.rar

The problem that I experience is that after installing this firmware, my tablet's touchscreen does not work. (I have to connect a mouse via USB to navigate through the screen). With this firmware, my tablet is able to read SD card. The problem that I experience is that after installing this firmware, my tablet refuses to install any other firmware. Could you help me uninstall this firmware?

ok well I'm going to need your output from wm-explorer, which you should've got before you attempted anything. I will be more than happy to help once I have this information, thanks.

I have a AGPtek TP10A GBD, build 1.5.2, and can confirm rooting it with The root kit is
RootBurner_v0.1_MaPan, md5sum is:
d52e5e7cfbb515045b76e3dfe8c4ec26 RootBurner_v0.1_MaPan.zip
http://www.agptek.com/download/V775(8850)Update.rar
http://www.nanospic.ro/dld/RootBurner_v0.1_MaPan.zip
I have not verified the firmware download from AGPTek, but according to their site, it is the correct one.
Just unzip the RootBurner to the root of the SD card, then reboot the TP10A. Works like a charm.
You will still have to do su to get root once this is done.

Little info on the AGPTEK tablets I have found is to use the VT1603 fwc file...That should fix most of the touch screen and no sound issue...Chipset is VT1603A to be exact and that's for models TP10V TP15...Hope that helps some...

Hi guys if you are struggling with this specific no name chinese netbook look no further!

http://image.made-in-china.com/2f0j...0-Laptop-Netbook-Notebook-Computer-X6-7V-.jpg

WM8850 1.25G 6.98"TFT 800*480 DDR 512MB

First you have to Format SD card to FAT (quick format in Windows will do)

Then you need to Download Rootburner and install the extracted contents to SD card

http://www.nanospic.ro/dld/RootBurner_v0.1_MaPan.zip

Load SD card and making sure Netbook is switched off hold down the power button until it begins.
It should install and tell you to remove SD card.

Come back to PC and Download WM8850_Uberoid_v0.5_JB_4.1.1_[TechKnowForum.net]

WM8850_Uberoid_v0.5_JB_4.1.1_[TechKnowForum.net].7z - FileFactory

You will prob have to register first, here is the page containing the download if you do have to register, so you can bookmark it.

Now Format the SD card again, and this time extract and copy the contents of the WM8850 Uberoid package to the SD card.

Install to Netbook (making sure power is off again)

Hold down Power button till Install starts, leave for around 5 minutes.
Should tell you to remove SD.

Android 4.1 Fresh install complete.

It took me ages to solve this, and i did it for a friend so no £.
Hope that this info helps some one out.
