Acer 500 won't charge, screen locked

My Acer A500 won't charge. When it is turned off the power button does not glow orange. When I turn it on the screen comes up but is locked and the little circle lock won't budge to unlock the screen. The battery is at 15%. I can leave it turned on like this for hours but the battery charge does not increase.

Is this a symptom of a bad battery or a bad update?

I am having the same problem. It installed an update, powered down on it's own. I don't know if the two things are related but now it is locked (will not unlock) and shows "Charging 15%" under the time and date on the opening screen. I tried a reset and it did not help.

I would definitely appreciate some advice.
