How well does a 512MB RAM tablet perform?

I am looking at tablets for $100 or less, but about 98% seem to have 512MB of RAM, my friends say thats a terrible amount of RAM for a tablet, but I don't think any of them even had a tablet like that before, so how well would one work?

MrFastZombie,

It depends upon your use for the tablet. While 512 MB of RAM is "low", it is OK for some applications, kids games, browsing, etc. Some tablets also have DDR3 as opposed to DDR2 memory. DDR3 memory is much faster than DDR2, so a 512 MB of DDR3 tablet might be OK for you.

The less-than-$100 price point is hard to beat unless you move up to the $150 - 199 range with the newer tablets. Reviewing what you plan to do with the tablet might help with your decision. Less than $100...good for BASIC surfing, apps, kids games. More than $150...much better for surfing, apps, graphic-intense games. More than $200...good all-around tablets.

Good luck,

Robyski
