If all you want to do is copy some music I have a link below with all kinds of file management suggestions and ways to copy/move files around between the PC and tablet. You can also sign up for Google Music on the PC which will sync up to 20,000 files to the cloud which will then be available on your tablet

I love Google Music, but if you are not a fan, if your tablet has a microSD or SD slot, you can just copy music from your PC to that and put it in your tablet. Reboot and the Play Music app should find it. If you don't have Play Music you can try some other music players that are out there.
Beyond that, plug your tablet in to your computer via a USB cable and you should be able to drag and drop the files to your tablet. Doesn't really matter where you put them, but in a folder called "Music" would make the most sense to me.
