Need help connecting to the internet

Thx a lot to both the Admins for a warm welcome, obviously I'm excited about this new thing. Yesterday I was trying to connect to my WiFi @home I have landline phone connection with a WiFi modem @home. But the Tab never connected..... kept on showing Obtaining IP address..... nothing more!! Then I put my WiFi settings to "no security" and then the Tab showed "WiFi Connected".
But.... was not able to browse, no internet connection. I'm trying to search for some kinda tutorials/tips on the net but no luck till now.
Is there some other way to connect the internet using android os 4?

At last I figured out the Device Model No. WM8850-MID
It would be a gr8 help if sum1 here can help me finding the pdf version of user manual for this Tab.
