new owner android 2.2 needs basic info..

Hello. I bought this tablet to have internet while traveling, First Trip impossible to have a wifi conection ... I have been trying to install the phone application..I am searching a tutorial or users manual with more info for beginners than the leaflet that comes with the tablet I have passed hours searching in internet.. sometimes the laguage is too complicated.. I live in Switzerland (phone info). All useful info is welcome.Thanks
