Nexus 7 Not Recognised by My Computer

My Nexus 7 is not recognised by my computer, a Samsung RV711.
Does anyone have any ideas?

What do you mean not recognized? Are you simply trying to attach it via the usb cable to move files to or from it?

Sorry for the delay in replying to your answer to my post.
I am trying to move files from my laptop to my tablet. Since I posted, occasionally the tab is recognised and is incuded as a device by the computer.
However, most of the time the error message states that the device is faulty and cannot be recognised.

I would be grateful for any help
