Actually I just want more range with wifi and I have a long range wifi adapter.

For an example the a500 won't work in many rv parks because of it's weak radio.

In the back of my head I was thinking that was what you wanted. There isn't anything I'm aware of that will extend the internal antenna's range, however the WiFi routers I mentioned in that thread also act as range extenders and/or repeaters. The problem is that it would need to be closer to the WiFi source than you are, or possibly just higher.

With the a500 is there a way to use an external wifi adapter connected to the usb port?

Will not work. There are some lacking support for USB modems and CD/DVD drives.

Update:

Just saw a pocket wifi - mifi as they call it - advertised by 3 on the back of the latest ANDROID MAGAZINE. Doesn't use USB though.
