Complete Noob questions about an APAD I just bought.

Hi all I was wondering if any one could help me out, I just bought this APAD 7" APAD Android iRobot Wifi WebCam Tablet PC Rockchip - eBay (item 370413530904 end time Aug-06-10 20:25:42 PDT)
and was wondering if there was any was to update it to the newest version of android and if there was any way to root this APAD.

I know that on some Android phones if you root them then you can update them even if the manufacturer has not released it. Can you do that on this device?

got it and having problems connecting it to my computer. I plug it in and nothing happens. I have the debug thing on and have tried a different cord. Help please!

What I know about it:
Box says iRobot
manual says APad
Model number is sdkdemo
firmware version is 1.5
kernel version is 2.6.25 rockchip version 1.7.4 (yuxing)
Build number RK-1.3.2.eng.root.20100612.025602

EDIT: I am also running XP SP2

I think that it is a batch 3. (plastic back, camera, blue light)

turn it off and it will ask to mount drive then it works
yup just turn it off and plug it in
