Copying files from desktop computer to A500 stalls

Maybe I'm just doing something wrong or impatient.

Everytime I attempt to copy the smallest of files from my desktop pc via USB connected to the A500, it seems to stall.

After a while, the A500 will drop out connectivity via usb and system copy will fail.

I've installed the Acer USB driver and sync, but just does not seem to matter. Any ideas?

Probably has more to do with your PC (underpowered USB port, etc..) than the A500.
Many here successfully use "WiFi File Explorer PRO" for file transfers https://market.android.com/details?id=com.dooblou.WiFiFileExplorerPRO&feature=search_result
