GLONASS - totally missed that

While using GPS Status app from the market, I noticed that the A700 was showing an unheard of 20 satellites.
Rushing to check specs I discovered that I had totally missed the fact that this thing can get both US and Russian GPS satellites.

The building penetration seem way better than on any of my other devices, and time to first fix is way faster.
Having lots of satellites sure makes a difference.

A lot of the review sites missed this fact.

Original firmware had issues with GPS, at least for me. Took forever to locate and was almost a hundred yards off. With the first OTA, I noticed a huge improvement and the apps I use that locate through GPS were able to find me within a second or so. Never really knew how neat a feature GPS is, though, until I started using it with maps a few weeks ago.

Now what I want, and have been looking for, for some time, is a GLONASS specific app. I remember years ago Tekelec had an electronic board with GPS and GLONASS receivers... but never got around to making it work. It was very expensive. Having both in the A700 is way cool.
