Google Buys FlexyCore for $23M; DroidBooster Likely Coming in Future Android Versions

It's a very light news day today in Android-land. This is primarily because Apple is having their big iPad press event today, so most of the press is glued to that. Oh yeah... we can't forget that Microsoft is launching their Surface 2 today, so that might take some of the attention as well. Because of this, the most intriguing news we could find this morning is a new Google acquisition. Google reportedly just bought the company called FlexyCore for $23 Million. In case you don't know, FlexyCore is the French company behind AndroidBooster, which is designed to help improve the performance of the UI in Android. Here's a quote with a few more details,

FlexyCore specializes in Android kernel optimizations that make the mobile OS much faster and more fluid, so Google had their own work cut out for them. In fact, the statement is exactly along those lines: “the FlexyCore team has strong expertise in building software to optimize Android device performance, and we think they’d be a great fit with our team”.

Obviously this means that we will likely see these performance optimizations in future Android versions; however, the current speculation suggests it might come as early as Android 4.4 KitKat. This is because Google has actually been in talks with FlexyCore for about a year now. We should know something concrete at Google's big announcement at the end of the month.
