ok, with a Title like like you can tell i hVea background in programming - though not so much now

i have a brand spanking new Nexus 7, and currently working my way through understanding this my first Android device.

Hi, welcome to the forum. You don't need a background in programming to use an Android tablet but it sure comes in handy if/when you decide to root it or go with custom ROMs.
