Help needed!

Hi all,
Ok, new to the tablet and android apps. I need help on my tablet. I have widgets on my "home panels" (don't know what they're called) that I would like to remove from them. How do I do that? I have tried everything and I just keep adding by accident! HELP!!!

Have you tried to long press on them and move them into the trash bin that will be located in the top right hand corner?
