On June 21, 2011, Apple released a new version of Final Cut Pro, renamed to "Final Cut Pro X", heavily based on iMovie, and described as a complete rewrite of the original application. Being missing the professional features presented in the previous Final Cut Pro version, like the inability to have more than one editing sequence in a project, removal of the multicam editing tool and the inability to use 3rd party IO hardware for capture and output, lack of edit decision list (EDL), XML and Open Media Framework Interchange (OMF) support, some professional users of earlier versions of Final Cut Pro have been critical of FCP X shortly after its release. It seems that it’s hard for FCP X to quickly capture professional users’ hearts. Putting the new version of Final Cut Pro X away, we are going to talk about an old but always being-asked question - how to import 1080p MTS clips to Final Cut Pro 6?

We will take importing Panasonic TM900 footage for instance. The Panasonic HDC-TM900 is the successor to the lauded HDC-TM700, which offers the same fantastic video performance as its predecessor, particularly with its widely-praised 1080/60p mode (Progressive Recording).

HX(9Mbps/VBR),(1920x1080)
HE(5Mbps/VBR),(1920x1080)
iFrame (28Mbps / VBR) , (960 x 540)
Compression (Recording Format) 1080 / 60p : MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 (original format)
HA / HG / HX / HE : MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 (AVCHD standard compliant)
iFrame : MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 (MPEG-4 AVC file format compliant (.MP4))

Scenario
We captured lots of 1080p clips with the Panasonic TM900, and transferred the video files onto an external drive. We're now trying to import those MTS files into Final Cut Pro 6.0.5 but it seems they are not supported... how to import them?
