Is there any way to strengthen the WiFi signal sensitivity of my tablet?

I have a IRULU 7" Android 2.2 tablet. The internet signal it receives fluctuates from 0 to moderate through time and apparently depending on how I hold it and where I sit in the room. Is there some way to increase the sensitivity of the antenna (without radical surgery)?
