I discovered that Magic Jack has an app for android for anyone with a Magic Jack account. I can now use my slate 7 as a phone if I'm in wi-fi range. Check it out here:

To use GrooVe IP, you need to have a Google Voice account/app. Unfortunately, they're not available in my country. Oh, well. Too, bad...

Great app! Unfortunately, it's running all the time and draining your battery. You have to manually shut it off, by going into settings to force close it.

I had installed it, then realized it killed my battery and uninstalled it. Nice idea but at this time poor execution.

Hmm. That's interesting about the battery. I guess it's designed to receive calls.
