I have purchased this 7" tablet from major UK retail shop(NEXT),as far as I believe they don't sell clone one.
I've searched the whole website and other websites:slaterdroid,ATZ,but I can't figure out exactly what's my tablet and what custom rom available for it.

Your help is really appreciated.

here's the details retrieved from boot up and by using android system info app.

android market is limited.

As far as I read on the forums I have to stick to 1.6 os wmt2.1.2_105
I'm happy with that only if I can found a way to root it to improve the existing one.

I've checked TIPSTIR and others ROM ,but I don't brick my tablet,so I rather ask first.

I would appreciate any help.
thanks

Go to the boards here that discuss the Wonder Media 8505 model, which has been superceded by the 8650, BTW. Perhaps they can help you do an upgrade yourself.
The App Planet is a fairly good Market site that you can use to replace the dreadful Market site they provide. Good luck!

I don't want to risk flashing it and turn it into a brick,I rather wait for an expert opinion.

It's WM8505,feel free to identify it.flytouch?Eken?Maylong?Epad generic?Panimage?

As BCK mentioned, there are literally hundreds of variants of these tablets. You are linking to a picture and saying it's just like it but a bit different. Even with pictures of yours, we likely couldn't give you the 100% guarantee which you have that you seem to be looking for. In my mind, you have the same options that I considered for myself when I was looking for a ROM for my tablet.

-If you absolutely cannot risk bricking it, then leave it stock. There is always risk. There is another post by a member who bought 4 identical tablets at the same time, and was able to successfully replace the ROM on 3 but not the 4th.

-You could open it up - the identification on the circuit board will help. Mind you, they are also changing hardware very frequently. I have one that looks identical to that of another forum member but he bought his 3 months after I bought mine. Mine is revision 5, and his is 18.

- If you decide that your desire (or need) to replace the ROM is strong enough - then again, research the options, make an educated guess, and cross your fingers. When I finally worked up the nerve to replace the ROM on mine, it worked perfectly first shot, but many have not had that experience. To me, part of the reason I bought this was to play with it and to eventually replace the ROM. I never expected this to be an "out of the box" item that met all my needs or desires. It still doesn't even with the updated ROM. It's something to play with and experiment with.

- In all honesty, with the prices of some of the top name brands out there right now, and how much better they perform, I would never buy another one of these WM8650 tablets. There are much better options out there now. Maybe look at one of them and what you could sell yours for locally.

thank you for your feedback.
here's some pictures of my actual tablet,I discovered it's WM8505+ rather than WM8505 I don't know if it makes a huge difference.
I hope someone can identify it and the custom rom for this tablet.

Based on the number printed on the end of the tablet, it is a Next 7" by Elonex. http://elonex.com/support/products/Next-NXTTAB7BLMediaTablet_QSG.pdf

H
CH has a ROM for an Elonex 7" at Login (you will need to log in first) but I don't know if it's the right one for your tablet. Hope this helps with your search.

Spot on, well spotted, I've checked elonex website I have upgraded the tablet, now I have a stock rom and I've tried several custom roms to see which one is working with mine.
still trying,I will post the list of custom rom I've tried.

many thanks again.
