Supporting Eye Contact On Video Conference

When having a video chat over skype for example, there is a common issue:

You can either look at the person you are talking to, or look into the camera, however not both at the same time. They are mutually exclusive.

This prevents the pretty important effect of eye contact in human communication.

I'm looking for ways around the issue.

Maybe a screen with a camera embedded *in the middle* of the screen? And not on top of it?

Do you know such a display? Maybe on a tablet?

Any other directions are mostly wellcome as well.
