I hate to contradict my esteemed associate, BUT, if you get a WiFi tablet that has GPS, (and some do, like the ASUS Transformer line) you can purchase some fairly inexpensive GPS apps from the Google Store. Sygic or CoPilot would allow you to use your GPS equipped tablet without a data connection. It would work just like a real GPS.
