USB charging

i have a BSNL Penta IS703c tablet. is it possible to charge it through supplied usb data cable?

if you care for your tablet, don't try to charge it on any kind of charger or usb other than the supplied charger

I too would like to know what issues using a standard USB cable would cause. USB "standards" set/limit the voltage and current, so I thought that was not an issue. Rewiring of pins on USB would be just dumb! SO, do tell. Please.
