warm case

I noticed that my case has a warm spot after an hour or so of use.

I would not really call it hot, but it is really warm.

Is this typical?

Probably.
The battery life is probably located behind that spot.
My tablet, Kindle Fire and cell phone all get warm or very warm after extended use at the battery.
No need to turn the tablet off. Just turn the screen off and let it sit for a while to cool off.
