Here are several job postings for AMD for Android driver development. Maybe AMD does want to get into the Android game after all. It was not too long ago when xbitlabs reported on AMD dropping Meego for Android: http://www.xbitlabs.com/news/mobile...oid_in_a_Bid_to_Push_Fusion_into_Tablets.html The hirings are for AMD Markham, formerly ATI. The requirements include knowledge of video codecs, which may point to the idea that AMD is reworking its portfolio into embedded graphics. https://www.amd.apply2jobs.com/Prof...ion=mExternal.showJob&RID=15497&CurrentPage=1 Volt Workforce Solutions In another posting, AMD seems to be interesting in migrating entire platforms to Android https://www.amd.apply2jobs.com/Prof...ion=mExternal.showJob&RID=15498&CurrentPage=1
Hope we'll see some AMD-based Tablets on the market soon. Prices should be relatively cheaper than the tegra based ones.
If anything, AMD will be more expensive than Tegra. x86 platforms can do more and therefore are still worth more. There is little reason for AMD to go ARM.
