Np pictures Available?

    Tablet / Device:
    Google Nexus 7-13, 32 Gb
    I was trying to add a photo to some contacts, and after selecting one from the thumbnails on the screen, I get a message, "No pictures are available on the tablet."

    Would this be a problem with the OS, or is there an application missing or broken?

    There was no help using general Internet searches.

    BTW- I don't see any difference with the newest update to Android 5.0.2
