PHIREMOD; GMail very slow to refresh

Since I moved to PhireMod 6.3 from CM7, my gmail has been difficult to refresh.
Yes I have done: menu > refresh etc but with little effect.
It will refresh in time but by then I've missed the moment, and read it on my Nexus.

Maybe it's not time for me and PhireMod to be working together.

Well, come on back to cm7, I won't tell! There were a couple of nightlies on cm7 that gave me fits with gmail. I reflashed gapps from clockwork and that seemed to fix the issue. I haven't run phiremod since 6.0. I found cm7 and have been very happy with it's performance so I stayed. You might reflash gapps with the latest using rom manager if you want. It might help. Just saying.....
