Problem booting J-Q88B: replace firmware or factory reset?

Hi there, and thanks for the chance to finally get some help here! I have a Chinese Allwinner based J-Q88B tablet, Android version 4.0.4, Baseband version 1.5, Kernel version 3.0.8+. I can't boot it up, it doesn't get past the black screen with the word 'Android' in pulsing white letters. I have done some reading, and it seems my options are to upgrade the firmware, by downloading to my computer and installing via USB, or doing a factory reset. So far so good, but I can't find links to download the specific firmware anywhere, and suggested factory reset button combos (power+volume up/down/both) haven't yielded results.

Please help! Thank you in advance!
