Hi, I've searched these threads for the answer for few hours now. No success.
I have a MID7042, not sure which version. This is a friends tablet and I am attempting to help out. My best guess is LiveSuite was used and now there is limited touchscreen functionality.

    Here is the breakdown:
    1. I don't have the original boot.img installed (I dont know of another, non-checksum verification method to determine which version)
    2. I have CWM 6.0.1.1 installed built by Vampirefo (so I have ADB access)
    3. I have flashed both dumps found here (for 7042): http://www.androidtablets.net/forum...evelopment-index-root-utility.html#post234277
3b. ...Using the steps outlined here: http://www.androidtablets.net/forum...w-restore-7042-8042-9742-dump.html#post224500

    Issues:
    1. Touchscreen either works partially, or not at all, depending on the screen rotation.
    2. After flashing the boot.img / bootloader.img / system.tgz and rebooting leaves me with the Coby logo (Coby logo -> brief blank screen -> Coby logo for several mins (10+ mins) with no further progression)

I've performed these steps on a Win8 64bit and they seem to work just fine via ADB. I also have Ubuntu loaded on another machines that can be used if linux is necessary (recommended).

    Thank you in advance!

could be a hardware issue, the firmware is unable to load, either the tablet is physically damaged or the hardware is too different for firmware to load. Also the firmware could have been dumped using the incorrect process, run the permission.zip it will rewrite permissions on the system if this is the case.

I flashed what I believe is the dump for ft5x_ts (the boot.img md5 is 1f7195a361341af391ab3ab2fc9327e6) followed by CM9 (http://www.androidtablets.net/forum/coby-generation-3-development/46413-cm9-coby-7042-a.html). I have been able to boot into android however I still don't have touchscreen functionality. If I remember correctly there was some cwm zip for fixing touchscreen. I cant seem to find the zip though. Any further suggestions or know where this zip might be?

Edit: I did run the permissions.zip as well just before installing CM9. Factory reset, flashed permissions.zip, then CM9 zip. Not sure if order is important with the permissions.zip...?

There is no zip for fixing touchscreen as it's very complex and time consuming, you can Google how to fix touch screen and get the jest of what you have to do.

One possibility, your touchscreen is goodix.

This link to the 7042 CM9 thread might help you, its post 16, Vamps goodix bootloader zip:
