Yes, I have mobo player installed and it will play mkv extension files, but only in software compatability mode and the framerate is unwatchable. I have also tried mplayer, same thing. H264 is fine with either of those players.
you can also try qqplayer, it seems supporing more video formats, some mkvs included
but, as far as i know, mkv is a container format, it can contain different audio&video codec, we can't make sure all the codec can be played well by media players, so there will be many playback issues.
