Where to Find Hoopla for Android 4.1

I have a no-name Android 4.1 tablet I got on sale at Big Lots for $80.00. It actually works great, but it doesn't come with the Google Play Store which seems to be the only place for the Hoopla app. Anyone know where I might find it elsewhere? Also, I've downloaded some codec files that are dmg and apk files that appear in my Downloads folder but I can't seem to install them. Tried double clicking and such with no luck. Is there a trick to this I'm not understanding? Thanks.

On the APK files you would need to go to settings - security and enable installation of third party apps. Not certain where to find Hoopla and a DMG file is not installable.

Actually, that setting already checked. How do I remove the dmg file since it's not usable.

Use your file manager to find the file and long pressing it should give you an option to delete it.

you can download apps via browser... I think that... by login with your gmail id..
