Wrong Market location ViMicro V7

I am in the US and have a Chinese ViMicro V7 . When I go to the App Market the prices are all in British Pounds. I have changed location in my browser but that doesnt help nor does trying to redownload another version or trying to delete. Appearing to be not in the US is giving me problems with downloading certain Apps. Research tells me that I would have to root my device to get rid of the preloaded Market. Before I attempt that can anyone confirm that is the right path or give me other ideas tks
