I have seen a lot information floating around about the Transformer 2, and seeing as how I am planning on getting one myself (the Transformer was my first tablet before the Jetstream), I wanted to post a thread with up to date information about the tablet until its release so that everyone could look here if they needed information.

I will update this thread regularly and include my sources as links so people can read about it themselves. I will indicate what is (Rumored) and (Confirmed) for clarity. Rumored items will be in italics and confirmed items will be in bold. Maybe I will even get stickied! :D

Update (11/29/11): Newegg indicates a Dec 8th release date but no real confirmation on that either.

Update (11/24/11): This article suggests some release dates: http://www.unwiredview.com/2011/11/23/asus-transformer-prime-may-be-out-in-the-us-on-november-28-or-december-16-canada-on-december-5/

In addition, the main page here at AndroidTablets has the same Amazon information. I feel like that is pushing it, however. Maybe I'm just being optimistic but the1 16th doesn't seem like "Early" December.

In addition, I just checked Gamestop and their site says 12/9/11.. AHHH THE INSANITY!

Update (11/23/11): Updated post thanks to some awesome suggestions by Walkop.

The official ASUS page for the tablet is now up and pre-orders are available on many websites including Amazon and Best Buy.

Nvidia offered a sneak peak of ICS on the tablet:
http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2396727,00.asp

Update (11/18/11): The tablet is official on sale in Germany, I guess they got it first! Maybe we'll get it sooner than later?

Also this is pretty interesting, ASUS is selling an official folding case similar to the smart cover for the ipad, for those that want that instead of a keyboard.
http://www.engadget.com/2011/11/17/asus-origami-like-transformer-prime-smart-cover-hits-amazon-sp/

Update (11/13/11): Official Nvidia site is live: http://www.nvidia.com/object/tegra-asus.html

Update (11/12/11): Yet another update within a few hours, I find a link containing information and hands-on pictures. The important piece of information is that the device will function with the new 64GB micro SD cards coming out, and that the original Keyboard dock WILL NOT FUNCTION with the new device. I know some people were asking me about this at my store so I figured I'd post it here.

Update (11/11/11): Added information for UK release and pricing.

Update (11/9/11): Official information released making everything above bold (practically). Although... after scouring online for an "official" release date, there isn't one... everyone is saying December but if you look at this link, it is more rumored and the source that outed December doesn't state where they got their information.

As for the specs, that's here (several sites have identical photos and information):
http://www.ubergizmo.com/2011/11/asus-transformer-prime-preview/

I will update more when I have specific data later. I know everyone is sick of waiting and wants this tablet NOW so hopefully we don't have to wait until black-friday-time-land.

Update (11/6/11): Official ASUS Homepage launched. Can't wait for the 9th!
http://eee.asus.com/en/eeepad/transformer-prime/features

Update (11/2/11): Tablet was dismantled by FCC at the end of October, this is generally a step they do at the very end of development so it is becoming more likely that the November 9th release is realistic. Some photos here for techy people.

Update (11/1/11): Release date is apparently Nov. 9th "confirmed" by an ASUS release documentation. I am going to be optimistic but realistic and keep this as "rumored" for now.

As linked above, some nifty screenshots can be found here, this is the most recent update I've seen as well. Keep in mind that link hints at a 2012 launch but that is inaccurate, as in the conference it was stated that it could possibly be "Earlier" then the end of the year, that and ASUS doesn't typically dick around when they make an announcement such as this. Can you imagine? "OH look! Here it is! You don't get it until next year..." Why pass up on Christmas?

Will update when available.

To jhaynes1230:
I saw that, didn't get a chance to update as I was away from a computer all weekend. Thread updated accordingly.

To Xandor:
You're right, my mistake. Bah!

Update again, keyboard dimensions found.

Some more information. That November 9th release date is looking more and more likely if there are official units being sent out to corporations.

You're very welcome! I am just as excited so I totally wanted to put my excess energy to good use.

If you read this article, and check the references, you can see that ASUS is serious about keeping the pricing point. We can't be sure whether the $499 is for the 16 GB or the 32 GB model (as they don't specify). However, seeing as how the originals were $399/$499 they are prolly going to follow suit with Apple and make it appear that the technology "transitions."

The reason they can do this is because they sell the keyboard for way more than it is actually worth, and make a lot of money that way (see as how that is the primary selling point). Also, because they make a lot of the components themselves. THAT being said... I wouldn't be surprised if it was $499 for the 16 GB and $599 for the 32 GB (still not bad).

I was going to mention, but it looks like you beat me to it! I will update the thread with those colors rumored, because it makes perfect sense.

I would vote for silver myself! =D

Release date according to Asus has been pushed up to sometime in December. The 32gb will cost 499.00 and the 64gb will cost 599.00

Yea, this is pretty much a replication of most of the news articles that were posted. Very exciting, I did update my main post but I appreciate you putting a link here. :)

As for the DEC release, I wouldn't bet on it. That original release was a rumor by a website that is famous for rumors. My research into my own retail stores pipeline (which I can't really talk about) as well as official statements don't say anything about December.

I think keeping an eye on that official ASUS page will be the best bet. I know ASUS is going to want to push for BEFORE Black Friday, and the spokesperson at the original product unveiling hinted at "earlier than Christmas" (poorly translated). I think the DEC date is confused with when the ICS update will be, I know it was confirmed already that it will ship with Honeycomb to be updated later... so why wait?
