Connecting to Nokia E52 using wifi app on phone

I downloaded and installed JoikuSpot light application and launched it on my nokia E52 phone. But when I search for wifi connection on Thrive, it doesn't even show up. Why is that?

Joikuspot provides an "Ad-hoc" network. Android does not support Ad Hoc networks. Looking for a solution myself without rooting the tablet.
