I have been searching for information in regards to GPS use of an Android tablet and have not found any helpful information

I have Toshiba Excite 10 AT305 with a GPS receiver, and I would like to use it for travel purpose and strictly an indication as to where I am in regards to a map on the tablet
Questions are:

I know android phone rely on data link to obtain maps to be used with the gps

1. Is there a web site that I can download maps from (pay or free) to install on the tablet
2. Will the tablets GPS function be able to track my position using only the GPS signal

Any help would be appreciated

Thanks
Tom

Welcome to the forum Tom

The answers to your questions are yes/yes and yes. There are a few GPS apps on the Google Store site that are very good for what you are wanting to do but none of the main apps are free. CoPilot and Sygic will both allow you to download maps and use the GPS for guidance, no other connections required.
