Intel is cooperating with Inventec and Compal Electronics of Taiwan on various Android tablet products. They are also reportedly working with 6-8 notebook manufacturers to be showcased at Intel Developer Forum (IDF) Beijing in April 12-13. New models based on Intel platforms are expected to be annouced between IDF and Computex Taipei May 31-June 4.

In addition to Windows and its self-developed MeeGo, Intel has add support for Android to its processors and the new strategy will allow its partners to have more choice, while significantly saving costs from licensing fees.
Whether or not this is the big push from Intel we were hoping for remains to be seen, but these are important developments that may reshape the Android tablet market as we know it, and remove at least some of the disparities in performance between the ARM based Android tablets and common day-to-day x86 PC computers.

Intel is the largest semiconductor chip maker in the world. For Android products to be more mainstream, increased participation from major chip makers such as Intel and AMD will lead to increased adaptation of the rapidly developing operating system.
