Memory Usage

I'm starting to realize 256MB of RAM just isn't enough. My android phone has 512MB. Anyone recommend a way to reclaim as much of the RAM as I can?

I am hesitant on using system utilities that close processes, I'd rather do it manually and permanently. Any config files I can mess with to prevent unneeded services from running on startup?

Any way to stop the INFOTM launcher from starting and specify only launcher pro?

I know my way around linux/vi/etc...so I don't mind digging in, if anyone has any suggestions of what files I should start with.

Use a home changer that you can search around for on the Market. Search "change default home" and install it. Use this link to help you change the default home.

Little did I realize the InfoTM (WOWHOME??) was already disabled after install of Launcher Pro.

When you press the home button will prompt if you want to start Launch Pro or INFOTM launcher, bellow you have a check box to default which Launcher you want to start permanently. Press that check box and choose Launch Pro.
