My 2nd ACER A500 arrived yesterday for my son and I want to install new ROM. I have some questions and I hope someone can help me on this...

I want to preserve my current stock; backup in case I want to restore it to it's original factory settings (like it came out from box) if in any case something's happen.

I can use the following: (you may add if in case I miss something)

1. Iconia Root program
2. ACER CWM Recovery
3. Busybox Installer - optional or needed?
4. ROM Manager (v4.4.0.6) - do I need this?
5. Superuser utility fixer - in case there's a problem

Now, here's the question: How can I make a backup copy of the stock to my SDCard so I can use it to restore back to my tablet?

What is the step-by-step procedure to be able to obtain it's original copy of the stock and make it as a backup for system restoration purposes?

Advanced Thanks to all who will reply.

First, the prerequisite stuff:

Install ClockworkMod Recovery (AKA CWM) (and how to access it):
1) Download and install Acer Recovery from the Market (free)
2) In Acer Recovery, select the ClockworkMod Recovery option and then press the "Install Recovery Image" button
3) You may be asked if you want to save your current recovery image; that is up to you, but you probably should JIC.
(To enter CWM:)
4) Turn off your tablet
5) hold BOTH, the VOLUME KEY CLOSEST TO THE POWER BUTTON and the POWER BUTTON itself
6) You should see your tablet turn on and some text in the upper left of the screen; at this point, let go of the buttons
7) You are now in ClockworkMode Recovery; Volume keys scroll and power key selects

To Backup (microSD needed; insert first):
(This will backup/preserve your current ROM and all stock system apps)
1) Enter CWM
2) Scroll to "Backup and Restore"; select
3) Scroll to "Full Backup"; select
4) Confirm that this is what you want to do
5) CWM will do its stuff and will finish after several minutes; just let it do its thing
6) On the microSD, there will be a Clockwork Mod folder (not sure of its exact name, but it will be pretty easy to see)
7) open the folder and somewhere in it or its subfolders will be a zip file; this is your backup
8) Move the zip file somewhere safe (PC, somewhere else on your microSD, etc)

To Restore:
1) You must have the backup zip on your microSD and the memory card inserted!
2) Enter CWM (reinstall it if you can't access it)
3) Scroll to "Install Zip from SDcard"; select
4) Scroll to "Choose zip from SDcard"; select
5) Navigate to your zip file and select it
6) Let CWM do its thing
7) If the tablet doesn't auto-reboot, return to main menu and select the reboot option from the menu
8) You should now be back to your backed up ROM

Thanks, but all of those I know already and I always doing it on my first A500.

The only problem I've encountered is when I do the Backup/Restore Tablet on Acer Recovery Installer v2.55 (CWM), it always asks for the "Purchase Now".

Is there any way I can find (somewhere in my tablet) the Backup created by CWM so I can copy it manually on my SDCard?

If you know how to do the backup already, then why ask for step-by-steps?
That took a long time to type too :-\

The process I described is how to do the backup and restore. You do not have to pay for anything or enter any passwords.
Also, you do not do the backup/restore from Acer Recovery. Acer Recovery is only used to install CWM (unless you pay for the full version).
I recommend do the steps I wrote and then you WILL have a backup.

My instructions also say how to find the backup file :-/
Its in the ClockworkMod Recovery folder on your microSD.

yes. the only thing I would like to know is...

Where on tablet's internal drive can i find the backed up image or the CWM file?

If I know this, I will not raise the question at the first place.

Thanks for the response.

it will save all the information on the sdcard, not in the internal storage

I already told you the answer to this, so please look at my earlier post carefully. It is pretty darn detailed and it answers this question and Dr0id even quoted the answer from my post (thanks Dr0id :) ).

You seem to be looking on your internal drive when the backup will be on your EXTERNAL drive. (/months/external_sd)
