New to Tablets and OS systems

Wow, glad to be here! thought I would never locate a forum or any info and works concerning the operations of these tablets! I have become very familiar withe Apple IPADS, but the android pads, tablets, I need help!
The WiFi keeps disabiling, when started, it reads;"obtaining IP address from (name of network), then disables! I have "5" of these tablets for all the grandchildren, I have to get these things going so they can reach the www. Please can someone help me with suggestions, procedures, any information. I'm quick, with computer experience! I'm easy to work with. HELP!
