No Sound after using headphones

The built-in speakers were working fine when I got my device. I plugged in the headphones that came with the device and the sound quality was a lot better. When I removed the headphones, no sound will come from the built-in speakers. If I plug the headphones in again, I can still hear sound.

I have tried powering the device off and back on again.
Turning sound off and back on again.
Plugging in the headphones and pulling them out as slowly as I can (in case it is the headphone switch that is not resetting).

In all cases, I am unable to get any sound out of the built-in speakers.

Any suggestions?

(Current version of Andriod is 2.2 on the device.)

What does the reset button do?

Is it a hard reset and if it is, is the file system in RAM or in FLASH?

The one thing I haven't tried yet is the reset button to restore the sound on the built-in speakers. I will try that tonight.

Other than the sound, everything else seems to work great.
