Quick (Cached) Directory Search?

I have a directory with about 4000 pdf files: is there a quick (cached) way to search through this?

I search for files about 20 times a day, and currently (using acroread or FileManager HD) it takes about 20 seconds for each search. Is there a better way? (On my laptop with an ssd drive it is instantaneous)

Sure, its a Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1.

I guess my question is quite general though: for example is there an app that caches directory lists for rapid searching?
