Screen issues with android tablet

Can someone tell me what the problem is with my tablet. When I turn it on the screen stays black but if I push on the back centre of the tablet the screen will come on. Is this normal for tablets?

You haven't given us much information about the tablet other than the problem. Please provide the manufacturer, model number and if the tablet is new or out of warranty.
