SD Card locked up my A1

So I put an sd card in my daughter's A1 today to play the music on it, and it gave a little triangle with exclamation point in the notification area...at this point, the tablet was frozen and I couldn't view the notification or do anything else, so I held the power button down to turn it off. At this point, it buzzed like it was going to display the shutdown menu and then went blank. Now, I can't get it to turn on. I don't know if it's actually on or off, but whether I hold the power button long enough to turn it on or just press it to wake it up, nothing happens. Also, when I plug it in, the charging light illuminates, but I don't know if that actually provides any useful information.

What can I do? I'm sure the sc card was fine, because I've used it in my android 3.2 phone and played the music on it. Any ideas? Thanks! I just bought this for my daughter's birthday and now it seems like it's dead

Have you removed the sd card and tried to power on or were you trying with it still in?

I tried both ways. I got it to boot via a forced reset. Thanks for the reply!
