Tablet has no sound

so my tablet is an android 4.0 (ice cream sandwich)
when i finally figured out how to put my movies and tv shows on it i went to play one and tried adjusting the volume
i first pushed the wrong button and lowered the volume but after that i couldnt raise the volume any higher,
and now when i can get the volume bar to show it has a line through the little sound icon and i cant adjust the volume.
anyone know what i did or how to fix it?

On your notification screen is there a sound slider? It sounds as if you taped mute so taping the speaker ICON should unmute it.

so i figured it out finally, after like 2 weeks.
it was muted but to unmute i had to hold in the volume button on the outside of my tablet
thanks for your help though, got me going in the right direction
