unable to add gmail account to android tablet

I am trying to add a gmail account to my tablet so that I can access the google store. but when I try to add it I get this following message. can't establish a reliable data connection to the server, can anyone please help. thanks

You need to turn on wifi and be connected to the internet.

I'm wondering how good the connection really is. Have you tried restarting your tablet? I have some WiFi connection tips you'll find in the link in my signature.

Hi, Cillyman.

The solution for me, as I assume it is for most people, is simply restarting your router. It's #2 on leeshor's list of Steps to Get WiFi Connected.
